UPDATE: House Bill 38 has failed!

STOP HOUSE BILL 38: Tell your lawmakers to oppose this bill.

House Bill 38 would require Wyoming voters to have lived in the state for at least 30 days in order for them to vote in local elections.

The ACLU of Wyoming opposes this bill. A 30-day residency requirement is unconstitutional because it treats new residents harsher and differently from residents who have lived in a place longer, burdening people's rights to live and travel from state to state.

In 1972, the United States Supreme Court in Dunn v. Blumstein ruled that durational residency requirements like this violate the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.
