Update: The Senate Judiciary Committee amended and voted to advance this bill.

Background: Senate File 124 would codify sweeping enforcement requirements to identify, report, detain, and deport immigrants in Wyoming. The bill would require police, public officials, and employers to question the citizenship of all Wyomingites, would impose fines on anyone hiring or transporting undocumented immigrants, and require county sheriffs to make agreements with federal agencies about the enforcement of federal immigration and customs laws.

Our position: The ACLU of Wyoming opposes Senate File 124. The bill is an overreach of government power impacting all Wyomingites, including citizens, legal residents and undocumented immigrants alike.
